Hello, I appreciate your interest in working with me. I am a former middle school teacher and coach, and have worked with adolescents 9-18 years old over the last 10 years. I’ve started my journey working with children and adolescents in the nonprofit world for Communities in Schools as a researcher and mentor. I transitioned to special education teacher and coached football and basketball for 5 years. My experience includes addressing a variety of emotional, social, and academic concerns. I believe positive relationships are the cornerstone of healing, mental health, and wellbeing. Now as a counselor, I provide individual counseling mainly from a Person Centered, Motivational Interviewing, Cognitive-Behavioral (CBT) and Dialectical (DBT) approaches.
When working with adolescents, I prefer to use theoretical orientations such as Solution Focused Brief Counseling and Strengths Based approaches. I strive to meet my clients where they are, develop a culture of trust, and address the needs of the client.
I received my Bachelor of Science in Psychology from the Appalachian State University and my Master of Education from the University of North Carolina – Chapel Hill. As a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor Associate my approach is client-centered, emphasizing personal strengths and inclusivity.
