Kada Ridgill

I received my Masters of Social Work from The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and my Bachelors of Social Work from North Carolina Central University. As a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, my experience includes residential treatment facilities, intensive in-home work with families, wilderness therapy and outpatient group work. Additionally, I have worked as an assessor for Duke Center for Child and Family Policy and as a School Social Worker for Wake County Alternative Schools. I have been doing outpatient therapy since 2019.

I have a passion for working to heal complex trauma, developmental trauma, and issues around attachment and love working to reduce reactivity, anger issues, anxiety and mood dysregulation.

I value setting clear goals so that we are able to measure progress while simultaneously diving into the more complex underlying issues that generally drive distress, suffering and maladaptive behaviors.

My trainings include IFS (Internal Family Systems), EMDR (Eye movement desensitization and reprocessing) TF-CBT (Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy), DBT (Dialectical Behavioral Therapy), MST (Multi-systemic Therapy), NDIT (Neural Desensitization and Integration Therapy), CPT (Cognitive Processing Therapy), IPSRT (Interpersonal and Social Rhythms Therapy) and TSY (Trauma Sensitive Yoga for Therapy)

Populations Served: adolescents and adults

Areas of Specialization: Trauma, developmental trauma, anxiety, depression, attachment disorders, mood disorders, Borderline Personality Disorder, stress, anger management and reactivity.

Therapeutic Approaches: I take a collaborative and strengths-based approach guided by Systems Theory. Together, the client and I decide which therapeutic modalities are most appropriate and comfortable for them.
